Sarah Barnes is a multi-disciplinary printmaker and designer living and working in Bristol. Her practice focuses on internal, external and imaginary environments, exploring how colour impacts on how we perceive and interact with them.
She is fascinated by the crossover between the 2-D and 3-D, producing laser cut installations and wall coverings for real spaces alongside printed spacial realisations.
Her practice is always evolving and new work is being developed exploring themes of death, ritual, celebration and sacred space in relation to colour.
Her main specialism is lasercutting which she has worked with for over 8 years. She currently works as a Research Technician running the Laser Space Bureau at The Centre for Fine Print Research UWE.
Sarah has an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking from the University of the West of England
(Distinction, 2012) and a BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design from Leeds College of Art and Design (First Class, 2008).
